Dr. Earl E. Paul

With his background in education, including his degrees, his teaching for years as a professor, and his presenting seminars, Dr. Earl Paul has pursued helping students and other adults with basic life skills. Subjects covered are those he has studied and taught (as well as applied in his own life). Besides teaching and presenting, he is a writer and decided to place his talks and expertise into “concrete form” as permanent references through books and booklets as well as in oral form - CDS and MP3s.

A characteristic of Dr. Paul’s style, both in presentations and writing materials, is relaying easy to understand concepts filled with practical information. His philosophy is that all of us need to know basics in various areas that will enhance our lives and allow us to grow as individuals. Contributing to anyone who wishes to improve in critical life skills areas is his major aim.

Dr. Earl Paul works in student affairs and has been an adjunct faculty member at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida for many years. He also works with students in the area of leadership and other student development areas.  Along with his college career, he is also an author and a speaker.

His degrees include a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, a Master’s degree in Student Personnel/Counseling from Western Kentucky University and a Ph.D. in Adult Education from the University of South Florida.

Through the years, he has written articles for professional publications, presented at numerous conferences both for peers and students, has been a paid speaker at many venues, and has authored a book on college student leadership and character, a book on traveling the world on a budget as well as a series of four booklets on life skills areas.

Highlights of Dr. Paul’s professional development include two years on the advisory council for the Florida Association of Community Colleges (FACC), elected as the college Chapter President for FACC, graduated from the national leadership institutes for the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and the National Council on Student Development,  served on a white paper committee for AACC,  completed a two years commitment  for the HCC’s Quality Enhancement Program (part of the SACS re-accreditation), and became a certified Leadership Instructor with Phi Theta Kappa.

When not working, a favorite passion is traveling the world, including hiking in the Himalayas in Nepal, spending two weeks in the Amazon rain forest, fly fishing for salmon in Alaska, extensive traveling around Eastern and Western Europe, biking down the Haleakala Volcano in Hawaii and riding a jet boat in the narrow canyons in New Zealand.
